Global Travel Group commercial director Cherie Richards is to leave the consortium at the end of the month.
Managing director Andy Stark said Richards, who has been with Global for 15 years, was “moving on for both personal and professional reasons” and would be “pursuing a new opportunity”.
“We want to thank Cherie for her contribution to the business in her 15 years with the group, she has played a hugely important role in making Global Travel Group what it is today,” Stark added.
“Her personality and tenacious manner has driven our business forward, and we will all miss Cherie being part of our group, as I’m sure she will miss us and our members. Cherie has been a fantastic colleague and friend to us all, and we wish her well for the future.”
Among her achievements during her time with Global, Richards was named the first-ever recipient of the Contribution to Travel award at TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies in April 2019.
She told TTG: "I am so proud of my time at global. From the launching of new initiatives like Global Buddies and Global Network of Women, to the legendary conferences and fabulous relationships I have with both member and supplier partners.
"I am going to miss the membership so much. My team have been so loyal and supportive and are working so hard during this crisis to support the members as much as they can. We rebranded Global and launched this during our 25th birthday year and we have created such a strong and personal bond with our members who they call themselves the ’Global Famalam’.
"I really am so sad to leave them all in the middle of this crisis. But I will always be there for them as a friend. I wish them and my team all the very best for the coming months as we navigate further through this pandemic and get our beloved industry back and operating."
