Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady will visit Dover and Liverpool early next year before heading to the US for its maiden voyage.
Travel agents will be invited onboard the line’s first ship during both calls in late February before the vessel repositions to its homeport of Miami to sail the Caribbean.
Virgin Voyages confirmed details of Scarlet Lady’s UK visit during a press conference in London today (21 May).
The news followed a number of teases around a visit to British shores in recent weeks from Virgin Voyages chief executive Tom McAlpin, who told TTG in February the line would host “a series of events” when visiting the UK.
“It will be more than you expected,” he said, before last week at the 2019 Clia Conference in Portsmouth adding that Scarlet Lady “could visit multiple UK ports”.
Also announced in London was an expanded partnership with DJ and producer Mark Ronson, who will join Virgin Voyages' Creative Collective, the line's team of designers and tastemakers who have helped to develop its product offering.
In his role as “minister of music”, Ronson will create a series of pre-voyage and onboard playlists for guests, as well as curate the vinyl record selection in its RockStar Suites and the ship’s vinyl and music store – Voyage Vinyl.
He will also collaborate with Virgin Voyages’ music teams to define its “sound at sea" as well and perform at The Beach Club in Bimini, Bahamas – its private island location.
As a part of Virgin Voyages’ “On Deck” DJ residency programme, Ronson has committed to four performances at The Beach Club in 2020, while producer Diplo has also been added to the ranks of musical superstars performing.
Virgin Voyages' enhanced collaboration with Ronson was revealed ahead of Scarlet Night – its biggest UK-based event to date – with some 600 agents invited and featuring a performance from Ronson as well as appearances from celebrity guests such as Spice Girl Geri Horner and Virgin's Holly Branson.
An onboard version of Scarlet Night will feature as one of Scarlet Lady’s “signature parties”, the line also revealed, with the evening conceived, designed and produced by Randy Weiner – the producer behind Sleep No More, Queen of the Night, and The Donkey Show.
There will also be an after-party created by New York-based House of Yes, the group known for its "theatre-infused nightclub" including circus antics, immersive cinema and cabaret performances.
