The crew of a Carnival ship came to the aid of three seafarers stranded at sea at the weekend.
Carnival Valor responded to a US Coast Guard call on Sunday (26 March) while navigating the Gulf of Mexico.
The ship’s officers were contacted by USCG officials at around midday when Valor was around 35 nautical miles away from the boat in distress. They changed course to intercept the boat, manned by three Hondurans, and brought them to safety using one of the ship’s lifeboats.
The three men were checked over by the ship’s medical personnel and were all found to be in good health. They will remain onboard until the ship reaches Costa Maya on Monday (27 March).
Valor, which homeports in New Orleans, has continued with its five-day sailing unaffected, which is scheduled to return to Port Nola on Thursday (30 March).
