Two sold out fundraising events at the weekend have boosted the fund set up in memory of Westoe Travel apprentice Chloe Rutherford and partner Liam Curry to the tune of nearly £35,000.

A golf day on Friday (7 June) raised £3,600 for the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust before The Chloe and Liam Ball on Saturday (8 June) at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead drummed up nearly £30,000.

Guests at the ball included mayor of Manchester Andy Burham, who ran the Boston Marathon to raise £1,000 for the trust. The Millennium Bridge outside the venue was lit up in the trust’s pink and blue colours for the occasion.

Golfers, meanwhile, were also asked to dress in the trust’s colours, with Westoe Travel entering two teams.
