The trip to Papenburg on 13 March, the first of its kind offered by Clia and open to agent members in the UK and Ireland, features a tour of the shipyard’s visitor centre and the opportunity to hear from Meyer Werft representatives about their work.
It will also include a guided tour of the building hall where attendees will see the three ships under construction.
Disney Cruise Lines’ Disney Wish and Aida Cruises’ AidaAcosma are also being built at Meyer Werft, currently in the early stages of construction and due for delivery in 2021.
Agents can register for the shipyard visit at Clia’s website.
Andy Harmer, Clia’s UK and Ireland director, said: “For the UK market, this is a particularly special visit as attendees will be some of the first to see two British cruise ships [Spirit of Adventure and Iona] both launching in the UK later this year.
“The event also offers agents the chance to learn about the cruise industry’s sustainability efforts, with three LNG [liquified natural gas]-powered ships under construction – Iona, AIDAcosma and Disney Wish.
“With a growing interest from consumers to understand what companies are doing to create a sustainable future, it is key agents are equipped with the knowledge they need to answer such questions.”
