Pierce, who joined the homeworking firm four months ago, recently spoke at a series of events hosted by Travel Counsellors and Life After Professional Sport (LAPS).
The former goalkeeper started his football career with Manchester United youth and Everton youth before going on to play in the first team for Macclesfield and West Bromwich Albion.
"I have a passion for travel and spent most of my off seasons travelling," he said. "Owning my own business was a life goal, and Travel Counsellors has allowed me to tie up those two passions.
"I’ve been fortunate to see a lot of the world and I love to help my customers with my knowledge of hotels and destinations; it’s a great knowledge base and one that is strengthened by the great technology and community at Travel Counsellors."
It comes after Travel Counsellors became the first travel company to team up with LAPS to help elite athletes discover a career in travel.
As part of the drive, the company will work with LAPS to highlight its Training Programme as a route to setting up a Travel Counsellors franchise and running a business.
Robbie Simpson, managing director at LAPS, said: "We are pleased to work with the Travel Counsellors team to offer our members a way into launching their own travel careers.
"There is a lot of synergy with our members and the attributes of a Travel Counsellor – who do not want to be tied to a desk, they have an entrepreneurial spirit and are used to working on results."
