#SaveTravel is warning hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost without urgent and specific support from the government, as the travel industry struggles to survive in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
You can play your part in raising awareness of the campaign by following as many of the following steps as possible:
The five-point plan for agents
- SHOW: Download our A4 #SaveTravel window poster and display it in your shop. Download the poster here;
- TELL: Add your own quote/detail to our press release template, and contact your local newspapers/radio stations to tell the story of what’s happening. Download the press release here;
- SIGN: Urge your customers to sign the #SaveTravel letter online. Direct them to savetravel.co.uk to sign the letter. Download the #SaveTravel letter here;
- SHARE: Post on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram about the #SaveTravel campaign, using the hashtag. Download the #SaveTravel Facebook header here and download the Twitter header here;
- SHOUT: Contact your local MP to tell them the plight you – and our industry – face if we do not get specific government support. Contact details for MPs can be found here. TTG has also created a letter you can edit and send yo you local MP, which you can find and download here.
Keep us posted on any response and success you have in your local area. We’re sure your loyal customers will want to get behind you!
“We have made a great start in our sector, and have been heartened and emboldened by the response from industry so far to #SaveTravel,” said Sophie Griffiths, editor of TTG.
“We know how powerless people have been feeling during the crisis and that their voices are not being heard. All this was exacerbated by the decision on effectively banning all travel to Spain with no consultation, for example.
“Now the next step is localizing the campaign and impressing on MPs and the local media the specific impact this crisis will have on their towns, high streets, local businesses and residents if the travel industry is not supported.”
“We hope this five-point plan will help agents spread the story wider, while across TTG, we also remain totally committed to doing all we can to continue this fight to #SaveTravel.”
