Former Kuoni senior copywriter and magazine editor Laura May has launched a new specialist content and marketing agency for the travel sector and has brought some of her ex-colleagues onboard too to spearhead the new venture.
Despite the challenges facing travel, MAY Travel Content and Marketing will offer copywriting, content, PR, design and photography services and expertise to tour operators, travel start-ups, creative agencies and luxury hotels.
MAY has a team of travel copywriters and PR managers on-hand to assist, as well as a dedicated designer and an award-winning photographer to help businesses throughout the travel industry with short or long-term projects.
The firm’s services include organic SEO features, advertising, press launches, brochures and customer magazine creation, as well as hotel and destination photography. Each member of the team brings more than a decade’s travel sector experience to their roles, as well as vital knowledge and contacts.
The team includes Jemma Byrne, former PR manager at Kuoni; Siobhan O’Halleran, former senior content editor at Kuoni; and photographer Neil Buchan Grant, who has won both British Travel Press Photographer of the Year and Travel Photographer of the Year.
“A three-hour round trip to work was affecting my work-life balance so, back in January, I took the decision to leave Kuoni after 12 fantastic years," said May. "As the pandemic hit, and talented former colleagues took the opportunity for voluntary redundancy, I saw an opportunity to form a team of incredible travel writers, PR managers and designers, creating a content and marketing agency solely for the travel industry.
“The one thing that has been a huge surprise is the number of new tour operators, apps and travel companies bubbling away in the background, waiting to launch when travel takes off again. A week after launching, we gained six new clients, from big hotel chains to small start-ups.
“Adversity breeds opportunity and the forthcoming year will be an exciting time to see new brands and ideas come into the travel market. We can be a ready-made content marketing and PR team; or companies can simply give us a shout whenever they need a little extra help.”
