Jet2 has dropped routes from Manchester and Birmingham to Italy’s new Salerno airport ahead of their launch in May, switching them to nearby Naples.
Salerno serves the Amalfi coastline and is slightly closer to it than Naples airport to the north. Jet2 launched Amalfi in September for summer 2025 and will now serve the destination using seven existing routes to Naples, including from Manchester and Birmingham.
Jet2 said: “As a successful business, we are continually reviewing our flying programme and will make adjustments where required. This gives us the ability to add flights and holidays in response to demand, and very occasionally we may withdraw flights too.
“Following this latest review, we have taken the decision to withdraw services to Salerno airport from Birmingham and Manchester airports and are contacting independent travel agent partners who have made bookings to Salerno to let them know.”
Salerno is a former military airport which opened to commercial services last summer following a runway extension. A new terminal is being planned there.
British Airways launches flights from Gatwick to Salerno in May and easyJet will fly there this summer from Gatwick and several European bases.
