The annual celebration, spearheaded by Intrepid Travel, enters its fourth year this year and will celebrate, support and recognise the work of agents in the UK and Ireland.
Intrepid’s head of business development and partnerships, Jo Reeve, said this year’s event would be held on Friday 8 September "to make sure more of the industry can get involved".
"National Travel Agent Day was born during the pandemic to bring the industry together and celebrate all the work our agent partners do," said Reeve.
"While the last Friday before the school holidays worked for the past few years, it doesn’t as much now with people away on holidays. We hope that by moving the date it will become accessible for more suppliers and agents.”
Reeve said that while Intrepid was planning its own events, discounts and giveaways, it did not want to "own" the day. "We love to see trade support and collaboration, and for businesses to celebrate in whatever way they want," she added.
The first UK-specific National Travel Agent Day was held in July 2020 at the height of the pandemic as a way to highlight the extraordinary lengths to which agents went for their clients during the first few months of Covid.
