Scenic trade sales chief has warned agents that interest in expedition cruises will increase following the release of the line’s docu-series, Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica, on Sunday (4 June).
“We’ve seen a lot of healthy activity with trade partners wanting to promote Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II, as they know Maritime Masters is going to be aired from Sunday night,” she told TTG.
“We’re hoping for them that the TV programme will drive calls, turning them into calls to our call centres as well."
Produced by Warner Bros and broadcast on Discovery+, the five-episode series will focus on Eclipse’s expedition trip from San Diego to Antarctica, showing life onboard for both guests and crew.
According to Stafford, the docu-series will be a good selling tool as it will enable agents to “see all the workings of the ship behind the scenes”.
“Agents will be able to see the destinations, and there’s nothing like seeing them from a guest point of view,” she said. “They’ll also see what our fabulous crew do to make the magic happen.”
To push bookings, Scenic has also embarked on a 13-day sales blitz, with managers hitting the road until 11 June to visit agents and promote the series.
“We visited agents last week and all we talked about was Maritime Masters,” she added. “We talked to them about how they can promote it when it’s on TV. It’s been really successful and people have been really interested.”
Agents have also been offered a live training webinar as well as the possibility to come onboard Scenic Eclipse II when it comes to the UK in September.
