Kilroy, a youth travel agency founded in Denmark, has opened its first UK shop.
The Bristol store is seen as a first step into the UK market for the brand, which has taken over a former STA Travel premises after it collapsed in August 2020.
Kilroy launched online in the UK earlier this year with stated ambitions to have shops in London and Manchester, filling the gap left by STA.
Founded in 1991, Kilroy has 13 shops in eight markets across the Nordics and Benelux regions and claims market leadership in the youth sector in the Nordic region.
The Bristol shop, in the city’s Clifton district, will employ four staff and concentrate on tailor-made itineraries, billing itself as “a company your mum will trust”.
The agency said its UK launch was “spurred by the country’s burgeoning youth travel scene”.
Sales director Jacob Stromfeldt said: “Bristol is the perfect location for our first UK store and marks the first step in our plans to be the go-to youth and student travel brand in the country.
“All of us at Kilroy were excited to see such a great reception to the opening event and how our local team is bringing the brand to life in the UK.”
