Amadeus has named Joost Schuring as its new vice-president of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
As well as leading Amadeus’s Travel Channels business in the region, he will oversee new acquisitions in the region including Traveltainment, Pyton and Hiberus.
Schuring is a 16-year veteran of Amadeus with a strong track record in managing the Amadeus business in different regions. He joined Amadeus in 2001 and held various commercial and leadership positions in the areas of e-commerce and account management before being appointed director of airline distribution sales.
In 2013, he became vice-president for Latin America & Caribbean where he was successful at driving the business forward during a challenging period. In his most recent role, since January 2017, Schuring was vice-president of northern, eastern, central and southern Europe.
“As travel evolves and customer needs change, we continue to focus on providing an enhanced range of IT solutions that will help our partners achieve their objectives whatever their strategy,” said Schuring. “I’m excited to lead our team and help travel agencies and providers meet their objectives, as well as provide travellers the consistency, transparency and choice they are looking for.”
Decius Valmorbida, senior vice-president, Travel Channels, Amadeus, added: “Joost brings a deep understanding of the travel industry and great expertise in managing regions. I am more than confident that Joost will bring tremendous value and energy to the region and will continue to drive the business forward.”
