The company revealed the milestone on Monday (4 December) after recruiting 300 new members over the past year to date, 20 of those coming in November alone. This is up 30% on last year, when Travel Counsellors recruited 210 members.
The latest cohort comprises not only industry veterans but also people from a variety of different sectors and backgrounds, including actors, photographers, marketing professionals and ex-military personnel. All recruits go through a comprehensive training programme and are paired with more established counsellors, regardless of their prior travel experience.
“Coming from a background in property but with a huge passion for travel, I was drawn to Travel Counsellors, particularly for its training and development programme,” said Matt Carter, who joined the company in October.
“My experience on the Travel Academy Programme was excellent; I received quality support from the support team, the training team, my mentor and local TCs.”
Matt Harding, who was recently promoted to the role of director of franchise sales at Travel Counsellors, said the company was focused on achieving “record growth in 2024 and beyond” while continuing to attract high-calibre recruits across both its leisure and corporate divisions.
Travel Counsellors’ corporate travel sector topped £200 million turnover this year, and welcomed more than 25 new corporate TCs.
It comes after boss Steve Byrne told TTG late last month the company was hoping to reach £1 billion in sales next year after reporting a total transactional value of £933 million in the 12 months to 31 October.
Byrne sat down with TTG at Travel Counsellors’ recent conference in Manchester to discuss the firm’s growth, its acquisition of Holidaysplease and its ongoing investment in technology.
