The figures, collated by C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, showed that new roles rose by 49% last month, which was the highest figure for October since 2014.
The total was up by 16% from the same month in 2019, up by 2% from both 2018 and 2017, and up by 7% from both 2016 and 2015.
The number of new candidates searching for travel jobs also reportedly increased by 13% last month compared with September and more than doubled against the same time last year. However, volumes remained down by 27% compared with October 2019.
The travel recruitment firm also claimed that the total number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs remained at its highest level since February 2020, with October’s figure matching that seen in September.
Last month’s total number of placements, however, was 21% lower than in October 2019.
Barbara Kolosinska, director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said it is "clear" that a lot of "great talent" has left the industry over the past 18 months.
"The challenge now is to attract new workers to our industry and remind former employees about what’s so great about working in travel and tourism," she added.
"Last month had the second highest number of new travel job vacancies that we’ve seen in nearly two years, so there really is no shortage of great roles out there.
"However, these impressive figures aren’t quite being replicated by the number of new candidates, which remain down by about a quarter compared to pre-pandemic levels."
