Hundreds of customers and members of the Waterford community shared messages of condolence on the agency’s Facebook page, praising his courtesy, kindness and professionalism.
Colleague Linda Byrne said: “We are absolutely devastated by the loss of Tom; he was so much more than a boss to each and every one of us. Most of us have been working at Strand Travel for more than 20 years, which says a lot about his approach and treatment of his staff. We will miss him beyond belief.”

Tom and his team were named Ireland’s Top Travel Agency in the inaugural year of TTG’s Top 50 Travel Agencies initiative, which assistant manager Darren Hutchinson said was “one of the proudest moments of his career.”
