The number of agencies planning to reopen before the end of June has increased week-on-week according to the latest TTG Travel Agent Tracker.
Of the 181 respondents to survey for the week ending 29 May, 35% of agent owners and managers said in light of non-essential retail premises being able to open from 15 June, they would be opening their stores by the end of the month.
A total of 38% said they would open in July, with 17% planning to do so in August and 11% saying later in the year.
Meanwhile 67% of agents had new inquiries in the week in question – marginally down from 68% the previous week.
Almost half (48%) had inquiries for the Mediterranean (up from 43% and 35% two weeks ago), followed by the USA & Canada (25% - down from 29%), and the Europe outside of the Med (20%).
Almost half (48%) of agents also said customers were most interested in beach holidays, with 23% receiving requests for cruises (up from 17% last week), 16% city breaks (down from 17%) and 15% touring holidays (up from 12%).
Almost 50% of agents said they had made new sales during the week – which was broadly in-line with the previous week, when 49% of agents reported making sales.
