The agency, first established in South Woodford in 1957, has twice been named the capital’s Top Agency as part of TTG’s Top 50 Travel Agencies.
The acquisition brings the number of branches within TTNG’s retail arm to 19.
Abbotts, previously a Worldchoice member, will retain its name and its team of four will report to TTNG’s retail director Julie Pinkney.
Current owner Julian Abbott will depart the agency after more than four decades, having joined the family business when he was 19.
TTNG chief executive Gary Lewis called Abbotts a “well-established and respected business”, adding it was part of the consortium’s strategy to support members when their circumstances change.
“After 42 years in the business, Julian has taken the decision to retire to finally spend time with his family and on his many hobbies. We wish him a long and happy retirement,” said Lewis. “As a group, we are keen to preserve the unique strengths of the Abbotts Travel team and brand, while leveraging synergies to improve operational efficiencies.”
Pinkney added: “We have extended a warm welcome to the very talented team members who have joined us from Abbotts Travel. Their expertise and dedication are invaluable to our organisation and we look forward to collaborating with them to create even more exceptional travel experiences for their customers.”
