The US-orientated line has revealed that Carnival Sensation will not restart cruise operations, while Carnival Ecstasy’s final itinerary will depart on 10 October 2022 from Mobile, Alabama.
Carnival said the two vessels were departing as it prepares to welcome two new Excel class ships, as well as the transfer of Costa Magica to the line’s fleet.
The decision also means a wider fleet deployment affecting Carnival’s US operations from Jacksonville and Mobile. Passengers and agents are being informed about these changes.
The line has also cancelled plans to sail two ships in Australia later this year, due to the “continued uncertainty of cruising” in the destination.
Carnival has axed Carnival Splendor’s planned cruises in Australia between June and September 2022, as well as itineraries on Carnival Spirit from June 2022 to October 2023. The line’s plans for a “two-ship return” to Australia will be announced at a later date.
The line, which currently has a fleet of 24 ships, is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2022 and will welcome Carnival Celebration, a sister ship to Mardi Gras, in late 2022. Carnival Jubilee is due to follow in 2023.
