At the time of its failure yesterday (January 4), All Leisure comprised two cruise lines, Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic. Travelsphere and Just You were sold to G Adventures by All Leisure’s administrators on Friday (December 30).
G Adventures has today confirmed that all of Travelsphere and Just You’s staff have been kept on by the brands.
A spokesperson said: “All the 200 staff that work for Travelsphere and Just You remain with the brands.”
Meanwhile a spokesperson for All Leisure’s administrators, Grant Thornton, said the redundancy figure for the firm’s Market Harborough headquarters staff was around 50, with 100 jobs lost on cruise ships.
All Leisure chairman Roger Allard told TTG that its Market Harborough headquarters had employed around 230 staff, while Grant Thornton has put the figure at around 250.
Grant Thornton has confirmed that All Leisure’s cruise operations were “significantly loss-making”.
Grant Thornton joint administrator, Eddie Williams, said: “Whilst I am extremely pleased to have concluded a sale of the Page and Moy business which safeguards the holidays and bookings for over 13,500 tours passengers and preserves 200 jobs, I am very disappointed that we have no alternative other than to close the remaining ALH operations.
"The sale to G Adventures was particularly complicated and required extensive interaction with numerous worldwide parties and the licencing authorities during December and over the Christmas period.
"However, the cruise operations have been significantly loss-making over a number of years and the ongoing cost of funding these operations by the tours operations has created significant cash issues for the entire group."
Grant Thornton is seeking buyers for several assets, including All Leisure Group’s freehold headquarters in Market Harborough, Voyages of Discovery’s Voyager cruise ship and other assets.
The G Adventures spokesperson added: “All tours are planned to go ahead and our customers can rest assured that they will continue to enjoy the award-winning holidays.
“The new brochures are out and it is going to be a fantastic year for exploring the world.”
