Bentubo will lead on all end-to-end operations including marine and technical functions.

She joined Virgin Voyages as a founding member of the team in 2016 as VP of technology and operations, but in her 30-year career in travel and operations has held senior roles at Bank of America, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line.

Bentubo’s career at Virgin Voyages has seen her also take on leadership of customer services, terminal operations and people and culture. She leads Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Squad, the program that recruits, supports and mentors female talent across operations to prepare them for future leadership roles.

Nirmal Saverimuttu, the operator’s newly appointed chief executive said: “Not only am I excited to work with Michelle as she takes our smooth operations functions to the next level, but I couldn’t think of a better leadership mentor for all our crew, especially our future women leaders.”

“Having her become our COO is brilliant news for the entire team and our business given how she’s been such an important part of building and creating our brand."
