Money will be used to open new destinations, target the US market and reach new customers in the UK, while technology will be upgraded. Limitless Travel sold 1,388 packages in 2024 and believes there is huge potential in its sector.
Limitless Travel chief executive Angus Drummond said: “This investment is not only a game-changer for our business, but also for disability travel as a whole.
“It will allow us to further enhance the quality and range of our holidays, expand into new products and destinations, and accelerate our international growth.”
Funds come from several investment houses, including Social Impact Enterprises, Beringea, Adjuvo, Active Partners, Miroma Ventures and existing investors.
Mark Foster-Brown, Adjuvo chief executive, said: “For decades, the travel industry has neglected to focus on an audience deemed ‘too difficult’ to cater for and has left millions of disabled consumers disenfranchised. Limitless Travel is proving that this is not just a moral challenge, but a huge commercial opportunity missed.”
Drummond added: “Accessible travel should never be an afterthought; it’s one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in the industry.
“With the support of our investors, we’re now in the strongest position yet to lead the charge and show the world the true power of disability travel.”
Drummond, who was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 22, founded Limitless Travel in 2015. It now has 80 staff.
“An estimated one in five people in the UK live with a disability, and over 11 million people have mobility challenges that can make traditional travel options difficult or inaccessible,” he said.
“The global accessible tourism market is valued at over $100 billion and is growing rapidly due to demographic trends and increasing awareness. Yet most travel providers still fail to cater for this community, leaving the joy of travel out of reach for millions of disabled people.”
Former Football Association chair David Bernstein, President of Level Playing Field, a disabled football fan charity, has joined the Social Impact Enterprises board.
He said Limitless Travel “has the potential to become a global leader in accessible travel”. “With our shared commitment to innovation and inclusivity, the team is poised to continue their rapid growth while making a lasting social impact,” he said.
