James progressed into a variety of roles during his more than two decades with Gold Medal, including B2B head of sales, before joining the senior leadership team in 2022.
His spell with the business also saw him work across Gold Medal and the group's specialist Pure Luxury, Cruise Plus and Incredible Journeys B2B brands.
“Adrian has been an outstanding colleague to many during his time at Gold Medal and I know many, including myself, will be sad to see him go," said Gold Medal managing director Simon Applebaum.
"Nonetheless, I am exceptionally proud of both Adrian and the fantastic product and commercial team he has built over recent years and feel confident they will continue to excel. I wish Adrian the best of luck in his future endeavours, I know he will bring significant impact and expertise to any business he joins.
"The commitment, dedication and passion he has shown to Gold Medal and our B2B brands for over two decades is highly commendable, and I thank him for being an exceptional part of my leadership team, colleague, and a friend.”
James said: “I am incredibly proud of my time with Gold Medal and grateful for the opportunities I have had during my time with the company where I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in the travel industry.
"The decision to leave has not been an easy one, however I believe this is the right time for me to embrace a new challenge and explore the next chapter in my career. I will continue to champion and celebrate Gold Medal’s ongoing success, and I am thankful to Simon and the team for their ongoing support.”
While Gold Medal recruits for James's replacement, the operator's product team will report into marketing director Sarah Lancashire and the commercial team into trade partnerships director Karen Fletcher.
