The UAE-based firm said the decision followed "a detailed review" of its UK travel businesses, reflecting "a broader strategic effort" to ensure its portfolio of brands aligns with its long-term objectives "and the realities of a changing market".
Dnata confirmed in a statement it has entered into consultation with affected staff. All confirmed bookings will go ahead as planned.
The group also explicitly confirmed Gold Medal and Travelbag were not part of the proposals and would continue to trade as normal as part of the group.
It follows national media reports earlier this year suggesting dnata was weighing up selling its UK leisure brands.
'Realities of a changing market'
"Dnata Travel Group confirmed proposals to bring operations for Travel Republic and Netflights to a close," said a spokesperson for the group late on Tuesday (11 November).
"This follows a detailed review of the Group’s UK-based travel businesses and forms part of a broader strategic effort to keep its portfolio aligned with its long-term objectives and the realities of a changing market.
"There is no immediate change for customers with existing bookings. All confirmed trips will go ahead as planned, and our customer service team will continue to assist travellers as usual.
"Dnata Travel Group recognises the personal impact of these proposals and has initiated a formal consultation process with affected colleagues.
"No final decisions will be made until this process is completed. The consultation will focus on the rationale behind the proposals, opportunities for potential redeployment, and measures to support colleagues throughout the process.
"Gold Medal and Travelbag are not included in the proposals and remain part of dnata Travel Group, continuing to trade as normal.
"Dnata Travel Group remains committed to open and transparent communication with employees, customers and partners as the process progresses."
