The initiative, which is being led by Midlands-based consortium Elite Travel Group, will get under way on Monday (9 march) and will see participating agencies provide desks, WiFi and refreshments for supplier representatives as they travel between appointments.
Elite said the aim of the scheme was to make life easier for suppliers covering the Midlands, while also encouraging more face-to-face engagement between operators and agents in a "relaxed setting".
Participating agencies include Villair Travel in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Kinver Travel, Holbeache Travel in Stourbridge, Greece and Cyprus in Sutton Coldfield, Westow's Direct Travel, Travel with Kitts in Potters Bar, Shrewsbury's Peaks Travel Elite, Nettours Limited in Maidenhead, Birmingham's Travel Club Elite and Marion Owen Travel in Hull, alongside host consortium Elite Travel Group.
Elite business development executive Adam Courtney said the project aims to create "practical workspaces" for sales teams on busy road itineraries.
"A number of our members have kindly offered dedicated desk space, Wi-Fi and refreshments, giving BDMs a comfortable place to work between appointments," he said. "This collaborative spirit within the Elite Travel Group network makes initiatives like this possible, and we’re delighted to see members opening their doors in this way."
Courtney added BDMs who have not yet registered their interest in using the "bolt-hole" locations are encouraged to contact him directly by email to be added to the list of participants.
