Fitzell joined Audley as Chief Product and Operations Officer last October from Elegant Resorts and If Only, and will take up her new role on 1 October.
Richard Hodgson, Audley's Chief Executive, said Fitzell would take the reins as the operator enters "an exciting new phase in its development" and as it looks to take advantage of "the strong growth opportunities ahead".
This includes Audley's expansion into retail travel after it agreed a deal earlier this month to take over Kuoni's John Lewis concessions.
"Prior to joining Audley last year, Lisa led two of the UK’s premier luxury travel brands, Elegant Resorts and If Only," said Hodgson.
"Lisa has a track record building high-performing teams, driving strategic growth and delivering operational excellence in a sales environment.
"This, combined with her in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and wider business gained during the last 12 months, means she is perfectly placed to lead our next chapter."
Hodgson also paid tribute to Hanson, whom he said left after achieving a three-fold increase in turnover during his tenure.
“Over the past two decades, Mark has played an important role helping shape and grow the business, leading our team through opportunities and industry challenges and contributing to the strong foundations we have today," he added.
"I would like to thank Mark for his commitment, contribution and loyalty to Audley Travel and wish him every success and happiness for the future."
