A travel agent duo have raised £450 for a mental health charity through sales of their trade marketing planner.
Homeworker Kate Holroyd, owner of Strawberry Holidays, and Mia Walmsley, founder of Footprint Travel in Prestwich, launched Beyond the Bookings in January to help agents stand out from the crowd in 2021 and win back vital business lost during the pandemic.
For every copy purchased, Holroyd and Walmsley donated £1 to mental health charity Mind with their total almost double what the pair had initially hoped to raise.
Walmsley said 2020 had been “very tough” on those working in the industry and that her and Holroyd “know many colleagues have been struggling with their mental health” due to the pressures of the crisis upon their businesses and lives.
“We wanted to create the planner to help them feel empowered going into 2021, but felt it would be extra special to donate some of our proceeds to Mind, who we know have helped so much through the pandemic,” she said.
Holroyd added that her own mental health had “taken such a battering” during the past year.
“Mia and I knew when we started the collaboration that we wanted mindset and health to be woven into the planner. To add a donation to a mental health charity felt like a bonus we had to add.
“It keeps up with our values of working together to help agents to create a better 2021 for themselves. To donate to an organisation like Mind, who are here to make sure people don’t face a mental health problem alone, felt like the perfect fit.”
