Morgan, who has fronted Channel 4’s Paralympics coverage and its Living Wild series, as well as ITV’s Loose Women, will steer the event to be held over 13-16 May.
In March 2023, Morgan – who was left paralysed from the chest down following a road traffic accident in 2003 – launched her Rights on Flights campaign, advocating for change throughout the travel industry to promote inclusivity, particularly with regards to accessibility.
She most recently presented Channel 4 show Fight to Fly, and was named among the top 10 most influential disabled people in the UK in the Shaw Trust’s Disability Power 100. She has also worked with Tourism New Zealand to highlight accessible travel in the destination.
Morgan was one of several high-profile female additions to the conference’s speaker line-up on Wednesday (5 March), the announcement coming ahead of International Women’s Day (8 March).
Others joining the bill include The Times’ economic editor Mehreen Khan and communications practitioner Sarah Blumenau, who is also an ambassador for the ADHD UK charity.
’Force to be reckoned with’
"Sophie embodies everything that could be associated with International Women’s Day and is truly a force to be reckoned with," said Advantage chief executive Julie Lo Bue-Said.
"Her approach to life is incredible, facing challenges with unwavering determination and transforming obstacles into opportunities with remarkable grace," Lo Bue-Said continued.
"The wisdom and experiences she will share with our delegates in Malta will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, empowering them to embrace their own potential and drive positive change."
Advantage and the Business Travel Association will showcase several more inspiring women at the two groups’ joint corporate travel summit this week.
They include Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE; Jenny Southan, editor, founder and chief executive of Globetrender; Justine Baynes, chief executive of British Wheelchair Basketball; and Rachel Tonge, vice-president SME client management at American Express Global Business Travel.
"We couldn’t think of more fitting speakers to highlight the spirit of International Women’s Day, and we look forward to the invaluable insights” said Lo Bue-Said. "Those who know me well will know I am passionate about promoting inspiring talent and creating lasting opportunities for people.
"Three-quarters of my current leadership team consists of exceptional female talent, and across our business, more than 75% of our workforce is female.
"This representation isn’t just about numbers – it reflects our commitment to creating an environment where woman can thrive, and having the best people leading and shaping the future leaders of the travel industry."
