The Bills, Benefits and Budgeting support session is free to attend and is aimed at offering personal rather than professional advice to individuals working in travel.
It will take place at 1pm on 13 December and will feature a presentation by Citizens Advice Manchester, offering key advice for those in the travel industry feeling financial pressures in the current climate.
It follows shocking statistics revealed by TTG’s cost of living survey which found that one in five TTG readers believe they may have to use a food bank this winter.
Of the almost 200 people who took part in TTG’s anonymous survey, 4% of respondents confessed they have already been forced to use a food bank, while 19% said they have either “actively considered” or “may yet have to consider” using one this winter.
Almost a third said they were considering taking on a second job in order to make ends meet.
The seminar will feature a presentation by Rosi Avis, partnership and communication lead at Citizens Advice Manchester who will offer support and advice on energy bills, applying for benefits and how to budget effectively during the cost of living crisis.
"We know that with the rising cost of living, increasing numbers of people are finding it harder to make ends meet and are really feeling the squeeze on their household budgets,” Avis said. “This session aims to highlight some of the steps people can help to take control of their finances, or at the very least direct people to the help that is out there - nobody needs to worry alone, we’re here to help people find a way forward".
Abta LifeLine director Trudie Clements will also be on hand to offer guidance. “This webinar is really important for those struggling right now, or for those that are worried about how they are going to cope in the current climate in the future,” she said. “The session will not only highlight what support and advice is out there and how to access it, it will also give travel professionals the opportunity to ask questions in a secure, non-judgemental environment.”
The session will be live, with attendees able to ask questions throughout. However if you would prefer to submit a question anonymously in advance please email sgriffiths@ttgmedia.com. The names of individuals who submit questions in advance will be kept strictly confidential.
The seminar will also be available on demand following the event.
