Delta Air Lines will double flights to Heathrow from New York in December, and up its Dublin service too.
The US carrier’s JFK-Heathrow service will increase to twice-daily from 6 November, while its JFK-Dublin service will increase to daily.
Flights to Paris from JFK will also be doubled. In total, Delta will operate up to 15 daily transatlantic flights to 13 destinations in December.
This includes the reintroduction, for the first time since March 2020, of its non-stop JFK-Frankfurt service, starting 13 December.
By November, Delta will operate more than 100 daily departures from JFK and New York LaGuardia airports, offering around an additional 8,000 seats a day.
Delta’s transatlantic expansion comes after domestic demand returned to 2019 levels; by November, it expects to have restored non-stop services on all of its top 40 more popular domestic routes from New York.
It added business travel was picking up too, achieving volumes "not seen since the pandemic began".
“We’re adding 25% more capacity this fall to meet the significant demand for business and international travel going into next year,” said Joe Esposito, Delta senior vice-president of network planning.
