Lundgren has signed TTG’s letter to transport secretary Grant Shapps and chancellor Rishi Sunak, which calls for greater sector-specific support for the sector.
"This industry needs government support because it is vital to the UK, and so many jobs depend on it," said Lundgren upon signing the letter on Wednesday (26 August).
TTG will be handing over the letter to government on Tuesday (1 September).
More than 10,000 people have now put their name to the letter, which urges government:
- to provide direct sector-specific support for the UK travel industry and companies operating within it;
- to consider a holiday on Air Passenger Duty until the end of August 2021 to help with pricing and encourage consumers to start booking holidays again;
- to commit to providing more advance notice of changes to destinations’ quarantine statuses and transparency on how decisions are being taken, which is a necessity for the travel industry if businesses are to survive.

Lundgren joins an already extensive, and growing, list of senior industry figures to have signed the letter, which has also been backed by the likes of Abta, Aito, the ITT, UKinbound and the Business Travel Association, among many others.
This week, a number of these figures told TTG why they were getting behind the campaign, and what efforts they felt it would take to offer travel a much-needed lifeline.
