Emily Trumble, founder of Encore Travel, acquired the new trailer last July and will use it every weekend in January and February, plus at summer fairs and shows.
Encore Travel is based at Trumble’s home in the town and thus misses out on passing walk-ins, she explained.
“Just to have the face-to-face [with potential customers], it’s a massive help,” Trumble told TTG, adding the mobile unit had given the business a threefold increase in sales in its first weekend of operation – January 5-6.
“It was fantastic,” she said. “Everyone said it was a great idea.”
Encore was assisted in setting up the mobile unit by its consortium The Travel Network Group (TTNG), which revealed Trumble had already broken even on her investment in the trailer.
Si Morris-Green, group marketing director at TTNG, said: “We helped Emily with all her promotional materials, the design of the pop-up agency and called in support from business partners to help with advertising and support on the day.
“The initiative was a massive success… Emily made her investment back very quickly, attracting not only existing customers, but new ones as well. We think the pop-up will prove to be popular with agents and we will be offering this service to all our members.”
