Anna Moore, a consultant at Jersey’s Travel by Design, left her role as crew with airline Blue Islands earlier this year to pursue a career as a high street agent, after long hours in the skies began to take a toll.
"I changed jobs because the long working hours as cabin crew were becoming a bit too much and I wanted to be closer to home," she told TTG.
And after just three works into her new position, Moore had to put everything she had learned from agency director Julie Law when an elderly customer and her carer requested a "luxury final getaway".
"It’s quite a sad story really, the customer was looking to go on one final trip towards the end of her life – but she certainly had a spring in her step, and she was very excited to take the trip," Moore continued.
After consultation, she booked the pair on a week-long holiday with Azure Collection to Portofino in Italy, staying at the Belmond Hotel – with the sale totalling £88,000.
"It definitely felt good to get the booking so soon into my time as an agent," Moore added. "It was a nice boost to my confidence.
"It was nice that the customer, who was quite high-end and enjoyed the bigger ticket bookings, put her confidence in me, and the fact she had that faith in me to look after such an important holiday was great."
After further training and – hopefully – more big ticket bookings, Moore hopes to one day become an agency director.
"That is my long term goal and where I would like to progress to," she said.
"I’ve done reservations before when I worked in aviation, but I have never packaged the whole trip with hotels and everything, so I want to get to grips with that first."
Law added: "Anna joined us on 1 February and has proved her weight in gold – she is a very quick learner and has a fantastic way with clients. This is an amazing reservation for Travel By Design."
