The multi-year partnership was unveiled at Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix (20 March). It will see MSC promote its cruise offering, which features more than 100 countries worldwide, to F1’s global audience
Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises’ executive chair, said that both companies share a strong ambition to develop next-generation maritime and environmental technologies, looking out for the future of their respective industries.
Stefano Domenicali, president and chief executive of Formula 1, added he was looking forward to “delivering the best experience for fans and customers globally and combining entertainment, luxury, and service”.
“We [F1 and MSC] are committed to sustainable solutions, and MSC’s insight and expertise perfectly complement our global offering and will continue to enhance our brand,” he said.
Both Formula 1 and MSC Cruises have committed to becoming net-zero carbon. Formula 1 has introduced new cost-cutting measures for the 2022 season, and sustainability measures – including the use of sustainable fuels.
MSC is preparing to debut several ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). MSC World Europa is due to be delivered in November, followed MSC Euribia in June 2023.
