The Sunday Times yesterday reported the Anbang Insurance Group, which also owns hotels and leisure assets, is in City talks over a takeover of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
The talks, which began in June, are believed to still be in their early stages, with no formal offer being made as yet.
Neither company was prepared to comment on the story. However, IHG has been the subject of takeover interest since 2014 while Anbang walked away from a £10.7 billion attempt to buy American hotels operator Starwood in March this year.
