The EU removed its mask mandate for flights on 16 May, but some European countries and airlines have still required passengers to wear face coverings, including Italy.
Although passengers won’t be legally required to wear a mask on flights to Italy, some airlines are yet to update their policies, and the FCDO advises people to check with their holiday provider before travelling.
The Italian government still requires that FFP2 masks be worn on ferries, trains and coaches entering the country.
After fully removing its Covid entry restrictions on 1 June, Italy now allows passengers to travel to the country freely without the need for a negative Covid test result or proof of vaccination.
The requirement for travellers to complete a passenger locator form before travel to Italy was lifted on 1 May.
