Managing director Beagrie said the Hampshire agency would from 1 February be known just as Meon Travel, comprising leisure travel division Travel With Meon and TMC arm Meon Travel Management.
Beagrie said the change was designed to recognise the agency’s growing international reach.
"Having a UK-based travel management company on their doorstep is a great asset for our core base of clients, but a significant proportion are not local,” he said. “Our clients are international – we cover all four corners of the globe, particularly with medical assistance."
He continued: "Having ’valley’ in our name felt a little parochial, so we have gone back to our roots from 60 years ago – the business was originally founded in 1964 as Meon Travel."
Beagrie bought Meon Travel’s retail and corporate business from First Choice in 2002.
However, the original Meon Travel brand remained part of Meon Villas, which First Choice continued to own, so Beagrie inserted Valley to create the brand he has run for the past more than 20 years.
First Choice eventually sold Meon Villas in 2016, meaning the name has remained dormant until now.
Beagrie confirmed that following discussions with the company which bought Meon Villas, it had now been decided his agency could use the Meon Travel name again.
Meon Valley Travel was named Top Agency South East at Top 50 Travel Agencies by TTG 2024.
