Travel agency Peakes Travel Elite has won an award from Shrewsbury’s mayor for offering “excellent customer care at its heart”.
The family-owned agency scooped one of Shrewsbury mayor’s annual business awards for the first time this year at a virtual ceremony held on Wednesday (16 September) evening.
The town council, headed by current mayor Phil Gillam, said the business had become an “award-winning travel agent and treasured local business”.
Claire Moore, managing director of Peakes Travel Elite, told TTG winning the accolade from Shrewsbury’s mayor was “amazing” particularly in such a tough year.
“Thank you Shrewsbury - to say we are delighted is an understatement,” said Moore.
“We were nominated by Shropshire Festivals who we work with in the community and raise charity money together.
“Within the community it’s really a lovely accolade to receive, particularly in times as shocking as they are now. It’s brilliant that the community is right behind us.”
Moore added customers were still “so nervous” about booking at the moment, with forward sales for 2021 taking “baby steps” forward.
“Having said that, we’ve got a brilliantly full order book for next year from quarter two onwards,” she said.
