Conservative Matt Hancock has been appointed as the government’s new Secretary of State for DCMS, Ayla Soguksu writes.
Entering his new role, Hancock has already received a letter from the inbound tourism body reiterating the need for change with five key demands, including immigration and visa systems flexible enough to meet business needs.
It is demanding the government maintains access to a skilled workforce, abolition of APD, a strong tourism sector deal and continued strong marketing of the UK as a desirable destination.
UKinbound chief executive Deirdre Wells said: “Our industry needs strong leadership to ensure continued development and growth of the inbound tourism sector, and I’m confident Matt will provide this.”
