As part of its grand refurbishment, the Hassler Roma has unveiled its redesigned Palm Court garden. With the keen eye of designer Jacques Garcia, the space has been transformed into a refined oasis in the heart of Rome. Green and white striped sofas sit amongst Roman statues and feathery palms, while the garden is anchored by a white marble bar.

Inspiration for the renewed spaces was found by carefully researching the Hassler's archival images, peeling back the layers of time and the many changes that took place over the years to reveal a simpler, more refined aesthetic based entirely the hotel's history. Jacques Garcia has created a timeless space that is bright and inviting, encouraging guests to linger over an Aperol Spritz or a plate of freshly made Amatriciana.

To bring this vision to life, the Hassler partnered with Italian artisans who share its commitment to craftsmanship and heritage. The bespoke sofas, armchairs and bar stools were custom-made by Colleoni Roberto & C., a family-owned upholstery atelier based in Bergamo. The landscaping was designed by Cristiana Ruspa of the Turin-based studio Giardino Segreto, while Roman blacksmith Bellamonica recreated the garden's historic lanterns.

The Palm Court is one element of the extensive refurbishment of the historic hotel, which has already included updates to the Michelin-starred Imàgo. Future projects include the reimagining of the ground-floor corridor and lounges, as well as the creation of a new spa beneath the Spanish Steps. Each element reflects the same attention to detail and sense of place that have long defined the Hassler Roma.

Standing above the Spanish Steps since opening in 1893, the Hassler Roma has long been an icon of the Eternal City. Twins Veruschka and Roberto Wirth, sixth-generation hoteliers and the third generation of their family to lead the Hassler Roma, are proud to guide the hotel into its next chapter while preserving the legacy that has defined it for more than a century.
