Carrick, who joins the long-haul specialist after four-and-a-half years with easyJet holidays, took up his new position on Monday (18 May).
The operator said the creation of the new role underlined the importance it places on its trade partnerships and delivering "meaningful support" for agents.
Prior to his spell as one of easyJet holidays' trade distribution managers, Carrick spent more than a decade with Glasgow-based luxury operator If Only, where latterly he held the role of Head of Sales.
Premier said Carrick was a well-known and highly respected stalwart of the UK and Irish trade trade, recognised for his collaborative approach, strong industry contacts and relationships, and his experience leading large-scale trade strategies.
Carrick's appointment comes after it was confirmed earlier this year that Premier's long-time Sales and Marketing Director Debbie Goffin would take phased retirement this summer after 26 years with the business.

Carrick's arrival is the latest development in Premier's push to strengthen its wider leadership structure.
Last October, Sara Park was promoted to Head of Marketing in recognition of her efforts to rebuild Premier's marketing function post-Covid. This was followed by Clare Crowson taking up a new Senior Partnership Manager role in January, to which she brings 20 years experience across sales, marketing and partnerships.
