Workers employed by ICTS at Gatwick had threatened to walk out over the August bank holiday weekend. However, the action was postponed following a new pay offer.
The Union union, which represents ICTS workers at Gatwick, has confirmed its members have accepted the new deal, which extends to a 7% pay rise backdated to April this year.
It means proposed strike action starting this Friday (29 August) will no longer go ahead. The action had been due to run through to Tuesday (2 September).
"By being prepared to strike, ICTS workers at Gatwick won a 7% pay rise," said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham. "Once again, Unite’s laser focus on improving jobs, pay and conditions is putting money in our members’ pockets.”
Besides the pay rise, workers will now be paid double for Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day shifts, also backdated to April.
Unite regional officer Ben Davis added: “Well done to Unite’s reps and members at ICTS who stood together and won. There is power in a union."
