Full details will be confirmed in the coming days. The operator told TTG: “We are in the process of finalising a very exciting programme to Egypt and we will communicate the details, including a fantastic launch offer for agency partners, next week. We advise everyone to watch this space.”
Reports in local Egyptian media, as well as social media posts by Egypt's cabinet presidency, suggest the airline and operator will resume flying to Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada in February 2027.
It is understood Jet2 will operate two flights a week to both destinations from Birmingham, Manchester and Stansted.
In addition, there will be a weekly flight from Edinburgh to Sharm and another from Glasgow to Hurghada, although Jet2 has yet to confirm this.
The programme will reportedly run to just shy of 170,000 seats.
Jet2 suspended flights and packages to Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada in 2011 amid continued political unrest.
In 2015, a Russian charter flight was destroyed by an Islamic State bomb shortly after leaving Sharm el Sheikh airport, killing all 224 people onboard.
This led to a ban on UK flights to the airport until October 2019. Tui was the first major operator to return, with flights resuming in February 2020.
