Lee Butler and co-owner Callum Brown opened the first Butler's Travel shop in Aberdeen last month, taking more than 100 bookings worth nearly £450,000 in their first 28 days of trading.
On Thursday (20 August), Butler posted an emotional video to Facebook thanking customers, the city of Aberdeen and people from the wider area for their support since the shop opened its doors.
However, towards the end of the three-minute video, Butler revealed he had recently been on the phone to a supplier for 75 minutes trying to amend a booking and urged customers wanting to make "small" changes to be patient.
"It's not that we're taking forever," Butler explained. "The suppliers are struggling too. There are so many last-minute bookings, it's the queues we're in.
"The other day, I was in a queue on the phone for an hour and 15 minutes and, of course, because there are only two of us in the shop, that's not ideal if someone else walks in. We've been so busy."
'We've been working absolutely mentally'
Butler's Travel is not the only agency dealing with a deluge of enquiries for late bookings. Agencies across the up and down the county have had customers wanting to book a quick getaway. Last month, several agents told TTG they expect the strong lates momentum to continue into the autumn.
Another Scottish agency boss, Joanne Martin, owner of four-branch Love to Travel, said at the time: "We're seeing a very strong lates market. I've never see it so busy before."
Butler echoed Martin's comments, saying: "I came into this week thinking the kids are going back to school it's going to be quieter but the pressure this week has been intense. It has been a lot. It has been busy. Callum and I have been working absolutely mentally.
"There have been a lot of last-minute bookings, which is incredible, but what that does is put a lot of pressure on the suppliers."
Butler became "a little upset" on camera when he revealed he found the huge levels of support from customers overwhelming. "Thank you so much for your support, he continued. "I cannot thank people enough. I'm just overwhelmed with the support from the city and the shire.
"You're literally just coming at us all the time. It's fantastic. Now I've got myself a little upset. Thank you for supporting Butler's Travel. I promise I will come back to you soon."
