Kerton left Carnival on 12 May along with the rest of her team when Carnival’s parent Carnival Corporation announced it would close the team’s UK office. She had been with the brand for six years.
In her new role, she will report into Riviera’s national sales manager Claire Hills.
The arrival of Kerton comes just a few days after Carrie Day joined Riviera as Ireland country manager.
Prior to Riviera, Kerton also worked at Thomas Cook as a trainer before moving to Carnival where she looked after key accounts overseas and in the UK, including Barrhead Travel and InteleTravel.
Vicky Billing, head of trade and partnerships at Riviera Travel, said: "Danielle brings not only solid account management and on-the-road experience, but also oodles of passion, fun, and energy—qualities that perfectly reflect Riviera’s values and our vision for trade partnerships moving forward.
“With recent changes affecting a highly skilled travel trade community, we recognise an incredible opportunity to welcome exceptional talent into Riviera Travel."
Billing added: "We’re committed to connecting with experienced travel professionals who are already well known to agents and giving them a place where their expertise is both recognised and genuinely valued.”
Kerton said: "Riviera Travel is a beautiful brand, and I’m eager to embrace the new challenge ahead, dive in wholeheartedly, and begin showcasing its unique and exceptional offerings.”
Carnival Cruise Line’s former vice-president of international sales Iain Baillie will join Cunard early next month.
In his new position, Baillie will lead the line’s UK and EMEA sales team and report into EMEA sales and global marketing vice-president, David Jones.
Baillie was one of several former Carnival Cruise Line team members to have been impacted by Carnival Corp’s decision to shut the UK office.
