Riviera Alba will be able to carry 50 guests across 25 suites and will have a low draft, meaning the ship sits higher in the water and can navigate shallower channels.
The ship will have an open-air sun deck with a hot tub and a pool as well as a main restaurant, lounge bar, spa, library and lounge. It will sail a 14-day Vietnam, Cambodia and Mekong River Cruise itinerary.
Speaking onboard Riviera Radiance ahead of its naming ceremony on the Danube, Riviera chief executive Phil Hullah told TTG the company is open to flying travel agents to Vietnam to experience a similar event on the Mekong when Alba launches.
A mix of agents and media have spent the past two days onboard the 178-passenger ship with celebrations culminating on Wednesday (26 November) with the naming ceremony
Looking ahead to Alba's 2027 launch, Hullah said: "We've got to find a way to get agents out to the Mekong. It's totally doable.
"Our new ship Alba does not launch until 2027. We're running cruises out there now but that's with a different partner on a different basis. Maybe we have one of these events out there? That would be fantastic.
"I've never been out to the Mekong or Vietnam. It will launch from Vietnam."
Hullah admitted that given the ship's size Riviera may have to deploy a second "ancillary" vessel to support Alba's naming ceremony.
Meanwhile, chief operating officer Robin Shaw said: "When we get Alba we won't be shy about showing her off."
