Jo Reeder, TTG Media:
Hello and welcome to Antigua, where I am accompanying nine agents from the UK on one of four simultaneous BA fam trips. The group flew from London Gatwick into Saint Kitts, where we spent a few nights in Park Hyatt St Kitts. Then we took a short boat ride over to Nevis, where we stayed at the stunning Four Seasons Hotel on Nevis. Then we returned to Saint Kitts to take a short BA flight over to Antigua, where we’re now staying at the Royalton CHIC Hotel right on Dickinson Bay Beach, which is one of the best beaches in Antigua. Agents have enjoyed some incredible experience-led itineraries, where they have sampled local food, local culture and some of the local nightlife. They’ve also stayed in a range of hotels, which really showcase what these beautiful Caribbean islands have to offer.
Louise Condy, Barrhead Travel:
We were so lucky with the experiences on offer at the Four Seasons Nevis. We did some sound therapy, and it was beautiful. It was on a pier down by the beach. We were completely relaxed, listened to the sounds of the waves and it was just pure and utter relaxation. It was amazing. We then had a tour of the grounds. We saw the Alexander Suite, which is their top suite, and the little touches in the room that they had for families, all the sort of amenities you would expect with luxury – you know, your minibar, your coffee, your water. And then we were lucky enough to see the privately owned villas as well, completely different from the Alexander Suite. Obviously, more personal things were completely decorated to their taste.
Will McIntyre, Gold Medal:
The beaches in Antigua have a lot to offer. I mean, this property we’re staying at now, the beach is absolutely amazing, probably represents the rest of the island in general. And the fact that Park Hyatt, where we’re staying, is a 15–20 minute drive away from the airport means that not only do you get the flights flying direct, but you can catch a transfer that will take you 15 minutes to get here. You’ve got a beach right on your doorstep.
Louise Condy, Barrhead Travel:
The hotel we’re staying in, the Royalton CHIC Antigua, is quite lively, but there is a real mix of clientele and a real mix of ages here. You’ve got other parts of the island that offer more if you’re just looking for quiet and relaxation. We did a trip to Shirley Heights and participated in the sunset barbecue party, which they have on Thursday and Sunday nights, so you get barbecue food, you get to see the sunset and then they had a steel drum band playing, followed by a band performing different songs. Such talent and just such a great way to mix with tourists and locals, and to really experience the vibe of Antigua.
Will McIntyre, Gold Medal:
If I was selling a twin centre to Saint Kitts and Antigua, especially if you are a wildlife enthusiast, all of the national parks and the nature there are absolutely fascinating. It’s all protected land. It’s unruined. Everything that we saw was just fabulous. Definitely one for the cameras, too, without a doubt.
Louise Condy, Barrhead Travel:
For me, coming on this trip, I never thought of it as a holiday destination, but it 100% is a holiday destination. The island’s got so much to offer, so many different experiences. It’s more of what you would call untouched, traditional Caribbean. You’ve got the beautiful viewing points where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. The pictures are so pretty. It’s very tropical. It’s very green. And yeah, absolutely 100% everyone should come to Saint Kitts Nevis and Antigua.
