Atlantis the Royal is coming to the Maldives in 2029. The South Male Atoll development will stretch across two islands, Family Island and Luxury Island, offering almost 500 keys, 20 dining venues and a big waterpark.
The project is a collaboration between Kerzner International Holdings and Assets Group. H.E. Mohamed Al Shaibani, chairman of the board, Kerzner International, said: “What began as a bold ambition in Dubai has evolved into a global portfolio redefining luxury hospitality and destination experiences. Our partnership with Assets Group unites two organisations driven by ambition and innovation, combining Kerzner’s expertise in world-class destinations with Assets Group’s transformative development capabilities.”
Philippe Zuber, chief executive officer of Kerzner, added that the resort would be designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape: “This is where visionary design meets nature’s masterpiece,” he said. “With Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, we are not simply expanding the legacy of Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, we are reinventing it. Here, Atlantis The Royal will be reimagined through the lens of the Maldives; architecturally, conceptually, and experientially to exist in perfect harmony with its surroundings.”
Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will be located on Vaaredhdhoo Faru island. The total land area covers approximately 1,368,890 square metres with over 5.8 kilometres of beach front. The resort will be accessible 10 minutes by seaplane or 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport (Malé).
The dual island site will offer 493 keys, including 270 hotel rooms and 223 villas and mansions. Among the 20 dining venues will be some familiar names to guests of Atlantis The Royal Dubai, including Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom and underwater restaurant Ossiano. There will also be two beach clubs and a 70,000-square-metre Aquaventure water park featuring up to 15 rides anchored by the Neptune and Poseidon Towers. The resort will also feature sports academies, entertainment zones, wellness facilities and luxury boutiques.
It is claimed that sustainability will be a core focus, protecting the island ecosystem through responsible design, energy efficiency, coral and seaweed regeneration, and water conservation systems, while Aquaventure will feature sustainably sourced native marine life of the Maldives and a Lost Chambers Aquarium, under the sustainability umbrella of the Atlantis Atlas Project.
