Asia’s largest budget airline, which has operations in Indonesia and the Philippines, posted a net loss on Thursday of £63.4 million.
It blamed foreign exchange and its Indonesian operations for the fall. However, the firm said it was working towards a better fourth quarter.
It added that it was “working on increasing capacity in the fourth quarter to meet the strong demand due to the year end holidays and festivities.”
The results come a day after the airline group posted the eighth straight quarter of losses at its long haul service, Air Asia X, the BBC said.
Indonesia’s national transport safety board is expected to announce the findings of last December’s AirAsia crash next week. One hundred and sixty-two people were killed when the plane crashed into the Java Sea off of Indonesia.
