AmaWaterways has resumed river cruising in Europe with charter sailings for guests in Germany.
The line implemented a number of enhanced health and hygiene procedures during its initial voyage onboard AmaKristina this week – its first since pausing operations due to Covid-19.
The vessel - normally able to accommodate 150 guests – carried only 100 in line with current regulations, while pre-boarding health questionnaires and daily temperature checks for crew and guests were carried out.
Crew also received updated health and safety training and each ship will have a designated public health officer.
Staff must also wear face coverings at all times, while guests only wear them while moving around the ship.
With capacity currently capped, the ship’s main restaurant and speciality venue can accommodate the required social distancing measures and new room service options have also been added.
Plexiglass dividers have been installed in lounge areas and guests given personal portable Quietvox commentary system, allowing them to hear guides at a distance while on small group excursions.
